DED and Sharjah Islamic Bank Academy unveil second edition of ‘Visions 2 Reality’ conference

Aimed to promote Emiratisation, the conference will feature sharing of knowledge and best practices on developing human resources.

The Business Excellence Department at the Department of Economic Development (DED), Dubai, in collaboration with the Sharjah Islamic Bank Academy (SIBA), will organise the second edition of the ‘Visions 2 Reality’ conference at the Dubai World Trade Centre on 22 May 2013, with the aim of promoting Emiratisation.

Themed ‘Building Tomorrow's Leaders Today,’ the one-day conference is a strategic joint initiative of DED and Sharjah Islamic Bank to proactively seek, develop, and engage high potential UAE nationals in support of the government’s efforts to create a readily available pool of Emirati talent in the local job market.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Ghubash, UAE Minister of State, said: “The UAE relies on the Emirati citizen to be a catalyst for the continued growth and development of the nation. We want to encourage young nationals to assume this mantle of responsibility, and to live up to the challenges ahead. This is the essence of the directives of Their Highnesses the UAE President, Vice President, Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates.

“This approach has made the country and its citizens shining example of successful human development in the region and the entire world. The Visions 2 Reality conference is an initiative that brings the public and private sector together to support the vision of developing the capability of UAE nationals in the job market.”

Ali Ibrahim, Deputy Director General for Planning and Development in DED, commented: “The Visions 2 Reality initiative is part of the UAE strategy towards exploring and developing the various capabilities of its citizens in a challenging world. The initiative reflects the country’s keenness to sustain its achievements and groom leaders who believe in the importance of comprehensive development and staying abreast of latest information. The conference aims to turn ambitions into reality in the near future.”

Mohammed Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of Sharjah Islamic Bank, said: "The Visions to Reality comes in line with the great ‘Absher’ initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan last November, and in response to the announcement by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make 2013 the year of Emiratisation.  Creating jobs for UAE nationals is a national duty that requires all of us to join forces and unite energies in dealing with Emiratisation as a national priority at all levels. Emiratisation is a national priority and investing in human capital is the best investment, urging all private businesses to join Emiratisation initiatives and support the government in its quest to strengthen Emiratisation.

The conference, which will feature a series of sessions, seminars, and workshops will bring together business and government leaders, consultants, heads of human resource departments and the academia in discussions on proven and innovative strategies in developing national talent.

Sponsored by Emirates Transport, Spearhead Training, AAFAQ, Hind Al Oud and Dana Gas, the conference will present new interactive models that will facilitate sharing of knowledge and business best practices. Reputed CEOs and award winning organisations will share their collective expertise with the attendees in an effort to encourage successful business approaches.

Last year, DED and SIB signed an agreement to launch a series of conferences, seminars, workshops, and other initiatives related to major regional and international issues to help the business community pursue excellence and innovation.
