Sharjah National Hotel Corporation, a subsidiary of Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB), has announced the opening of the Oceanic Khorfakkan Hotel and Resort in the emirate of Sharjah after the completion of development and expansion works.

The AED 200 million upgrade included design, renovations, and development of the hotel’s previous building and facilities, as well as incorporating additional new facilities that included villas and chalets into the new design of the resort situated on the coastline of Khorfakkan.

The hotel was upgraded and renovated under an agreement signed between the Sharjah National Hotels group, the owner of Holiday International and Marbella Resort Sharjah. The development and upgrade of the hotel took place over a span of two years from May 2011 to May 2013.

Speaking on the occasion, Othman Mohammed Sharif, Board Chairman of Sharjah National Hotel Corporation, said, "The development and upgrading of the Oceanic Hotel aims to cope with the impressive tourism growth in the region in keeping with the leadership of Sharjah's directives to stimulate the tourist movement, driven by the immense tourism potential of Khorfakkan's beautiful coastline, mountains, and natural reserves. It also reflects the desire of Sharjah National Hotel Corporation to enhance the tourism scene in the Emirate, as well as its eagerness to provide the highest standards of service that will boost the attractive climate in Khorfakkan, and attract larger number of tourists and holiday makers who wish to spend their holidays in Khorfakkan city."

He added that many important aspects were taken into consideration while renovating the hotel, such as the application of modern and unique designs, and the creation of world-class dining venues for which top and highly skilled chefs specialised in presenting various dishes from local and international cuisines have been recruited.

Great care has also been taken to develop special recreational programmes, and to recruit highly qualified staff with vast experience in dealing with and meeting the demands of hotel occupants, in order to offer visitors a unique opportunity to experience true Arabian hospitality in luxury and comfort.

The upgrade encompassed the hotel's 177 suits and rooms, including 18 luxurious suits, as well as other additions featuring three-bedroom villas with private seaside pools, a banquet hall that can accommodate 1000 people and the addition of another 40 rooms and chalets.

The Hotel's Management is currently working on putting the final touches in preparation for the opening of Al Dana Grand Hall, Al Andalus villa's, and Bab Al Bahr Restaurant – which are all expected to be opened in the final quarter of this year. The Hall, which enjoys a charming view overlooking the Indian Ocean, is equipped with the latest technology for celebrations.

Upgrades also included a multi-purpose Health Club for men and a covered one for women, a children’s play area, and a specialised spa, in addition to the redesign of the entire beach area with extensive water sports facilities and the upgrade of the existing diving centre to international standards. All of the hotel's rooms and halls have also been refurbished to include new furniture and elegant accents, as well as equipped with the latest telecom technology, among many other services.
