DED and SIB collaborate on second edition of V2R conference focusing on Emiratisation

Under the patronage of His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Ghubash, UAE Minister of State, the second edition of ‘Visions 2 Reality’ (V2R) conference organised by Business Excellence Department at the Department of Economic Development (DED), Dubai, and the Sharjah Islamic Bank Academy (SIBA), will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre on 22 May 2013, sponsored by Emirates Transport, Dana Gas, Spearhead Training, Aafaq and Hind Al Oud.

With a focus on promoting effective Emiratisation, V2R will feature presentations by experts from award winning organisations who will share their insights on all the major thrust areas of people development, including talent sourcing, engagement, retention, and development. Themed ‘Building Tomorrow's Leaders Today,’ the conference aims to support government efforts to increase the Emirati talent pool by providing organisations with a unique platform for sharing and learning tried and tested strategies for the development of nationals.

“The UAE leadership has called on all of us to sharpen focus on Emiratisation and the Visions 2 Reality Conference’ assumes greater significance in this context. The conference also underlines the growing realisation in the public and private sectors for building joint strategies,” commented Ali Ibrahim, DED Deputy Director General for Planning and Development Affairs.

Mohammed Abdullah the CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, said, “SIB remains committed to creating sustainable growth, both economic and social, in the Emirates. The UAE has become a world leader on numerous fronts in a very short period of time and if this growth is to be continued it is imperative that we enable the next generation Emirati workers to take up the mantle and continue working towards an even greater future, which is why the development and expansion of the Emirati workforce is of paramount importance.”

The one-day conference will include presentations by industry, government, and sector leaders, consultants, and heads of human resource departments who will share their experience and know-how through a series of sessions, seminars, and workshops  in addition to a presentation by students from the Sharjah Islamic Bank Academy.

Kicking off the expert sessions will be Presentation by Nasser Butti Al Shamsi, Director-General of the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (TANMIA), with a presentation on ‘How to activate Emiratisation strategies within corporations?’ after which Ibrahim Moosa, Director of Operations for TECOM Investments Education Cluster, will be discussing ‘How to make our youth the employees of choice’. The third presentation, titled “Addressing Emirati Youth: Converting stumbling blocks into stepping-stones”, will be delivered by Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).

Highlighting best practices in the implementation of Emiratisation, Aisha Al Shareef, Director Talent and Organisational Development at Dubai Holding, will talk about “Best Practices in Recruitment and on boarding”. Abdul Rahman Sami Saqr, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at First Gulf Bank, will explore “Best Practices in Career and Leadership Development” and Hamad Eghdani, Director of Government Relations & Emiratisation at Emaar Hospitality Group, will be presenting ‘Best Practices in retention of UAE Nationals’ while Mohanna Al Muhairi, COO of the Emirates Foundation, will be looking at ‘How to be the Employers of choice of UAE Nationals’.

The day’s sessions will be rounded out by two presentations, Jassem Al Baloushi, Chairman of Sharjah Tatweer forum and Head of RBG at Sharjah Islamic Bank, will be addressing the youth specifically on how to prepare to excel in a session titled “Challenges in private sector jobs and how to rise above them”, while Abdulmuttalib Talib Al Hashimi, Managing Director and Founder of the management consultancy ‘Next Level’ will explore how to effectively “Consolidate Emiratisation strategies”.
